Adult Keelboats

This is day sailing or adventure sailing in our fleet of 20 foot sun 2000. The boats are stable and trainees sail with instructors on board and do not require wetsuits. This is a more adult friendly fleet with participants sailing as team to achieve the best results. Making passages and trips are the order of the day. Our keelboat courses are 1, 2 and 5 day.

Keelboat Beginner
For the complete novice and involves learning the basics of sailing and handling a boat on all points of sail in light winds and under the supervision of an instructor. Students will be aiming for the ISA start sailing certificate or RYA L1 the course can take from 2 days. There are no prerequisites for this course. Capacity - 12pers.

Keelboat Progress
Teaches basic boat handling and manoeuvres as well as encouraging a bit of independence. It introduces simple navigation and gives students the skills to sail a boat on their own in sheltered waters. Students will be aiming for the ISA basic skills or RYA L2 and can take from 2 days. Students should have the ISA start sailing/RYA L1 skills before taking this course. Capacity - 12pers.

Keelboat Improver
For people who wish to become an independent sailor. It teaches more advanced manoeuvres and navigation and creates a self sufficient sailor who can start racing or day sailing without help. You will need to have ISA basic skills/ RYA L2 or equivalent standard to take this course. Capacity - 12pers.

Adventure 1
Gives students the skills to make coastal passages and to operate a small day sailor in coastal waters where overnight stays are possible. It covers a greater degree of navigation, boat handling and decision making in familiar waters. Students most hold the ISA improving skills/RYA seamanship and day sailing qualification or equivalent experience. Capacity - 12pers.

Adventure 2
This course gives students the skills to make extended coastal passages and to operate a small day sailor in coastal waters where overnight stays are possible. It covers a high degree of navigation, boat handling, heavy weather sailing and decision making in unfamiliar waters. You will be expected to skipper one of the keelboats. Students must hold the ISA adventure 1 skills, Advanced sailing skills or equivalent experience. Capacity - 12pers.

Sailing Fun and BBQ’s

Sailing out into Bantry Bay with a qualified skipper, competing against your friends and attacking eachother with super soaker waterpistols. Enjoy a hearty lunch and out again for more brilliant fun on board. Or, enjoy the challenge of a brilliant Kayaking Treasure Hunt around the spectacular Adrigole Harbour. Head back to the Boat House at the end of the day to the lovely smell of your BBQ cooking on the balcony and relax in our Bistro for the evening. Capacity - 60pers.
Minimum group size is 8.
