Introduction to powerboating
A prelude to the National powerboat certificate for students who
have no boating experience. It is a one day course and is run on
a private tuition basis. It covers the basics of launching a boat,
ropework, steering, understanding wind and current and basic manoevers.
National powerboat certificate
The minimum qualification that powerboaters should have when operating
a boat on coastal or inshore waters. It covers launching/recovery,
picking up moorings, come alongside, springing on/off, holding off,
ferry gliding, Mob and safety, basic navigation and pilotage, basic
engine maintaince and trouble shooting

Safety Boat
For students who wish to become instructors, race officers, or operating
a powerboat in rescue situations. It covers windsurfer canoe/kayak,
dinghyrescues as well as leeshore rescues , casualty care. Students
must hold the National powerboat certificate or equivalent before
attempting this course

Dive Boat Coxswain
For students who wish to drive a dive boat and covers location of
dive sites, Navigation, G.P.S., diver operations, emergency situations
and safety. Students wishing to take this course should hold the
national powerboat qualification or equivalent and it is preferable
that they have some diving background knowledge.

Navigation for small boats
A 1 day (ISA) or 2 day (RYA) shore based theory course for users
of small boats in coastal waters. Covering navigation, tides, buoyage,
metrology, pilotage and course plotting. It is run on request but
requires a minimum of three persons. The RYA 2 day course is more
advanced than the ISA 1 day course and comes with a training pack.

Recreational Powerboat
Once students hold the national powerboat certificate and wish to
improve their powerboating skills, get more out of their boating
or go futher afield, then this is the course for you. It covers
towing skiers/dougnuts/banannas,, Navigation/GPS, use of VHF, angling,
leeshore anchoring, tides and weather. Students should hold the
national powerboat qualification or equivalent before attempting
this course. Students should also have completed the 1 day navigation
for small boats or equivalent..

Advanced Powerboat
For students who wish to powerboat in unfamiliar waters and at night.
The course covers advanced navigation/G.P.S., heavy weather handling,
night exercises, MOB, helicopter rescue, emergency situations, search
patterns. This course is recognized by the department of marine
for commercial endorsement and students should have Recreational,
dive boat coxswain, or safety boat or equivalent before attempting
this course. Students should also have completed the 1 day navigation
for small boats or equivalent.
