Our cruising courses are run on a live-aboard basis and are 5
days in duration. The courses are designed to teach you the skills
to run or be a part of a team on a yacht at sea.

For complete beginners and teaches you how to handle the sails,
steer the boat use ropes and fenders and how to be a useful member
on a cruising yacht. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

5 Day Live Aboard |
Teaches students how to handle a cruising yacht in coastal waters.
The course covers manoeuvers under sail and motor day passage navigation,
entry and exit of harbours, marinas, piers and jetties, and crew
management. To do this course you need to be able to sail and have
a completed a basic navigation course, this would be day skipper
theory, Keelboat L3, Recreational powerboat, or the coastal navigation

Course
5 Day Live Aboard |
Takes students to a higher degree of cruising and involves making
longer passages at sea, overnight passages, and a higher degree
of navigation. Mile building would be part of this course along
with tricky harbour entrances and decision making. In order to take
this course you must be of day skipper standard or above with some

You could also take your Coastal Skipper while on the 2 week Adventure Sail or on the Scillies sail. |

| Yachtmaster Prep |
Designed to prepare students for the Yachtmaster Examination. It
is very intensive and involves close quarter maneuvers under sail
and engine, problem solving and rapid navigation exercises. You
need to have a high standard of sailing and boat handling , have
logged over 2500 miles completed a number of passages as skipper
and logged over 50 night hours. This is an intensive training week. Capacity - 5pers.
We recommend private charter for this and you can take as many days you need and choose your own crew.
Trainees that achieve high enough level of skills can then go on
to charter the yacht for an external exam or organise an exam in
their own boat, see charter rates above. |
