THE CENTRE FACILITIES
We are lucky to be situated directly on the water side with an excellent slip and pier,
literally on our doorstep. The centre was built in 2000 and was carefully designed
with the sailor in mind, with underfloor heating, drying room, commercial kitchen &
cosy cafe area.
On the Water On arrival you will see Jessy of Adrigole swinging
on her mooring at the end of the pier or tied up along side. Your Skipper will be
either on board getting her ready or inside the Boat House building awaiting your arrival.
Downstairs the underfloor heating provides a lovely warm welcome
throughout the lecture rooms, changing rooms and showers. Changing rooms are split into
ladies and gents, both with 4 showers, sink and toilet. Through a separate entrance at the
back of the building we have a walk in drying room with hot pipes permanently keeping all
the wetsuits & booties nice and dry for your comfort.
Upstairs we have a wonderful café area with fantastic teak balcony
overlooking the harbour and offer spectacular views of Adrigole Harbour and Hungry Hill a
view that is without question one of the best in Ireland. Come on upstairs on arrival for
a cup of tea and to fill in your arrival registration forms. The reception
area and office are manned throughout your course, and are contactable by phone and vhf
from the yacht providing back up to the skipper.
Outside you will find a selection of chalet sheds provide additional
storage for our equipment. There is a buoyancy aid shed with a large selection of
different size buoyancy aids, life jackets, spray tops and spray suits to keep you safe
and warm on the water. We clean sort all recyclable products and store them carefully
divided up in the Recycling Shed, before taking to the recycling centre. The large rigging
shed neatly stores all our sails, tillers, rudders, paddles and tools. An most important
of all our Instructor chalet only they know what is stored in the deepest darkest corners
of their shed!
The boat yard is convenient storage for all the dinghies, kayaks, canoes & safety
boats. Situated just behind the centre, so our dinghy sailors can rig up and pull their
boat 100yards to the water no roads to cross, no traffic to worry about.
A grassy bank rolls down to the waters edge and is lovely to lie down in the sun at break
time and relax. A fenced off courtyard on the waters edge with picnic benches is perfect
for a family picnic and popular for youths and teens to hang out.
Parking
There is limited parking at the centre and we ask all sailors to park considerately. We
have a tin for keeping car keys in at reception, just in case we need move your car while
you are at sea. If you nave a particularly sensitive alarm, please don't turn it on,
cos it can get windy on the pier and set them off!!

the stern and she has a double berth and single berth in the main saloon. You will

Cruising Charter of Jessy of Adrigole with Instructor
Your charter is self catering, unless you have booked meals with us, and you are requested
to include the skipper/instructor in your meals for ease of meal preparation, consider him
one of the family. The galley has fridge (which is on when engine is on), small oven and 2
ring hob. We do not recommend bringing too much fresh meat, as the temperature of the
fridge will fluctuate. If dining out, you are not expected to include skipper in your
numbers.
Extra expenses to be paid during or at the end of your charter are -
- fuel used (2 day approx. 10euro, 5 day approx 25euro),
- marina & mooring fees (marina is 20, moorings are 6, sometimes you will
anchor for free),
- any accommodation costs of the skipper/instructor, should you request him to stay ashore
(only available if you already have your Day Skipper),.

All Cruising Customers
Please do not bring hard bags, such as suitcases, as they are difficult to store.
Children should bring suitable toys, nothing sharp or potentially damaging to interior of
yacht, no felt tip pens or paints please! Bring your own bedding, towels, high factor
suncream (at least 25), waterproof jacket and trousers (adults can rent these), woolly
hat, comfy clothes. When trying to decide what to bring, imagine you are going on a self
catering caravan holiday, but your caravan is floating and you are sat outside all day,
whatever the weather!!
Optional extras
¨ Laundered sleeping bag 20
¨ Dougie Gill Coastal Salopettes and Jacket 3 per piece per day
6 per set (not available for children).
Boarding is 8pm on night before your course starts, disembark at 4pm on last day of
course, all crew then help to clean Jessy & make her 'ship shape' for the next
customers.
CLOTHING
Wear comfortable clothes. Here is a suggested packing list for a 5 day cruising
course
- 3 trousers, 2 shorts
- 2 thick fleecies or jumpers
- 2 thin fleecies
- 5 tshirts or vests
- 1 or 2 sets of thermals (depending on time of year
- wooly hat, gloves & scarf
- high factor sun cream
- towel - not too big (enough to cover you up)
- swimming togs
- sailing wellies or normal wellies if clean and have good grip
- white sole trainers or deck shoes (no leather sole - as they are very slippy, no dark
soles - as they leave scuff marks, no heels - vey nasty!!))
- This is not a concise list, just a suggestion for those of you that haven't been sailing
before. Plan to dress in layers, as they will provide extra warmth and you can peel
them off as you warm up, even on a sunny day the wind chill on a boat can leave you
chilly.

activities with us.
Off Shore Waterproof Salopettes and Jackets

very seriously when cruising.

Air
Cork Airport 021 4313131 Kerry Airport 066 9764644
We have links to most airlines on our travel page. Flights
from Dublin to Cork are often cheaper than the train these days, so worth looking at.
Cork & Kerry Airport are a 1˝ drive to Adrigole, Cork offers a more efficient bus
service.
Bus Eireann run a shuttle bus from the Airport to the Bus Station every 30 minutes, which
links up well with the Private and Bus Eireann bus from Cork to Adrigole, check out the
Bus Eireann web site for start and finish times.
Shannon Airport is approxmately 3˝ hour drive.
Train
Cork Kent Station Enquiries 021 4506766
Direct link to the Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail) is on the travel
page on the web. The train station is a 5-10 minute walk from the Bus Station, so
leave yourself time to walk across the river. You can take a taxi if you have heavy bags,
but cos of the one way system, takes the same time!!
Bicycles!!
Not many cycle from Cork City, but if you do I recommend the back road take a look at our
driving directions on the travel page of the web site.
Alternatively, if you are staying in the area for a while after your cruise you can rent
bicycles for your stay here. Super Valu in Castletownbere will arrange for your bikes to
be delivered to your accommodation or you can collect them, so they are there on arrival
and they will collect them when you leave. Call Super Value to book bikes on 027 70020.
Driving
The easiest route from Cork using street signs would be to go
¨ Cork - Innishannon - Bandon - Dunmanway - Bantry - Glengarriff -
Adrigole (2hrs)
Or you can take 'the back road'. Take a look at the web site travel
page for detailed directions on back road (1˝ hrs).
Adrigole is one if Ireland's longest villages, so after the sign for Adrigole you have
about 5miles till your reach the following land marks as you travel west
¨ Church & pubs - GAA Pitch - WCSC sign PO - Pegs Shop The Birches
