  Our policy is to provide expert tuition in a fun environment and give customers an experience they will remember and share with their friends. WCSC pride themselves on the level of referrals and repeat bookings which grows each year. The key to this success has been our commitment from our staff. No customer is left out or made to feel unwelcome.

  Our season usually begins in March, crescendos in July and August and tapering off in November. Some staff will be employed for all of those months and some just for short period.  There is also a winter training programme that runs from September to April.

  Our busy times tend to be weekends during spring and autumn with adult and specialist courses and weekdays in the summer with the children and family courses. We teach sailing and powerboat to all levels and all ages (over 6yrs for sailing and over 16yrs for power boating). The centre is open from 10am to 5pm from March to November and evening sessions are run during July and August or if we have specific residential groups. All instructors work a ten session week and extra sessions if necessary will be shared out. Session are 9.30 – 13.30, 13.30-17.30, 17.30-21.30. Meals are provided for staff working two or more sessions in a day.

  Instructor duties include responsibility for the safety of everyone at the centre both on and off the water at all times (including other staff members), keeping the centre clean attentive to customer needs, promotion of the centre, Maintenance and repair of equipment, kayak rental.

  We have grades of instructor with different pay scales, based on age, experience, ability and qualifications.  All employees have the opportunity to be re-evaluated and upgraded during the season, based on their teaching, communication and team working skills.

  Staff are allowed to use the centres equipment subject to permission and can purchase equipment and clothing through the centre’s suppliers at trade or discount prices.
